Blending by Heart: Song Sung Blue and the Inner Life

Sometimes a movie scene becomes a stained-glass window, illuminating something true. A scene from Song Sung Blue touched me. This is a poetic visual invitation to experience the elements to see what, if anything, they stir in you. There’s also a 10-minute where I share more about my experience.

Blending By Heart

The self I call me meets a familiar stranger at the fair. We walk and talk honestly, without pretense or shame.

Why waste time or breath when there’s singing to do?

We open The Essential Neil Diamond Songbook.

In these bars, in this gaze, all of the words I’ve used to describe myself loosen and fall to the floor. And we PLAY.

You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me.

For a moment, there’s no such thing as leading or following. There is only blending by heart.

My name is Kirsten. In spiritual direction, I accompany folks as they attune to the inner dimensions of life. This way of being together is grounding and spacious. Together, we anchor into presence and a familiar flow of relating.

In the video above, I also refer to Faint Outlines, my Substack project.

On Little Connections, my friend Bernard and I have video conversations about movies and everyday spirituality. To listen on audio, choose your favorite podcast player here.
