Strong Winds Pose No Threat, A Dimensionally-Layered Practice

Collage on top of a journal page. Two open hands over a blue/green rectangle background hold a woman sitting with her hand on a large white shiny drop. Behind her is a cat's game of tic-tac-toe.

Seemingly vulnerable to demolitions accidental and intentional, never weary of bringing together what has been separate, trustworthy in ways you know, but will never be able to explain...

A Serving Suggestion

I have been playing the song below, “Mercy,” on a Bluetooth speaker or TV while gazing at the collage, and listening to the audio reading of the poem on my computer or phone. The layering of the three together adds dimensionality to all three.

Poem + Audio Reading by Kirsten

Is there anything new on the road oft traveled?

Vibrant beauty that once
took away breath
is a backdrop now; you search for
novel sacraments.

Today, though, the sun shines through
effervescent raindrops
on spun silk.

Recognition is lightning
in every cell.
You see for the first time
what you have always known.

This mystery will bear your weight.
